It looked for awhile as if the Oklahoma City Thunder were going to pick up that signature win of the 2010-2011 NBA season. With their head coach already sidelined and their best player suffering an injury in the second quarter, the Dallas Mavericks were still able to find a way to defeat the Thunder at home, 103-93. That way turned out to be Jason Terry.

Dirk Nowitzki went down with an injured ankle after coming down on it awkwardly following a field goal attempt. He did not return to the game, although it is not believed to be serious. While we are on the infirmary front, Russell Westbrook also went down with an elbow injury in the fourth quarter, but he is not expected to miss Wednesday night's game against the New Jersey Nets.

Terry had connected on just 1 of his first 9 shots, but heated up to hit 5 of 8 in the fourth quarter to help the Mavs outscore the Thunder 24-12 in the final frame to seal the deal. It is Dallas' 17th win in their last 18 games. They are an impressive 11-1 on the road this season.

Oklahoma City went cold as the fourth quarter went on and shot just 4 of 18 overall. They held an 84-83 lead with nine minutes remaining, only to watch Dallas rattle off the next seven points. Kevin Durant led the team with a game high 28 points. He also added 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Westbrook scored 15 but did not shoot all that well again. James Harden continues his quest for Sixth Man of Year honors, as he scored 18 points off the bench.

The Thunder have two more home games left in this brief homestand to close out the calendar year. They will host the Nets on Wednesday night and close things out against the Atlanta Hawks on New Year's Eve Friday night. They will then travel out west for some very challenging matchups, including another game with the Mavericks, as well as road games with the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers.
